Dancing The Distance with Sasso & Company this April!

As with any artistic project, what you start out to create takes on a life of its own and turns into exactly what it is meant to be.

While the creative journey may take a different path than originally expected, I find that the destination generally remains the same.  It is what we discover along the journey that clarifies our true intentions.

In the fall, I wrote about making the leap from life in Boston to life in England.  I specifically wrote about challenges I thought I would face directing my company from across the ocean.

I am so excited to announce that Sasso & Company has created an incredible second season and will be presenting Dancing the Distance in just a few weeks at Green Street Studios in Cambridge, MA!!

The season has taken the challenges that our physical distance presented and utilized the company’s collective ingenuity to create new work based on this theme.

While it has been challenging for me to be physically removed from the creative process, I have been able to allow my dancers more artistic freedom.  We have shared weekly rehearsals via text, photos, videos, and email updates.

In a lot of ways, we are a modern business operating in two different countries.

In addition to the work that my company is presenting, we have the honor of presenting nine local Boston-based companies and choreographers.  Creating a stronger sense of community within the Boston dance scene is part of Sasso & Company’s mission.

We are excited to share our journey with our muse, distance, and have invited these artists to create work based on this theme.  Further, we are overjoyed to be sharing this work collectively with live audiences in Boston.

I invite you to take part in our journey and read a bit more about our performances.  I cannot wait to see you in the audience!!

Dancing The Distance will showcase three new world premiere pieces of choreography as well as fan favorite company repertory.  As part of the company’s mission to create a greater sense of connectivity in the Boston dance community, Sasso & Company is excited to be presenting the work of five artists on Friday and Saturday:
