Sasso & Company is excited to announce that we will be hosting our semi-annual shared performance series, Deeply Rooted this February at The Dance Complex Julie Ince Thompson Theatre in Cambridge!
This season, the company has been hard at work in the studio creating brand new, world premiere choreography based on the psychological theory of attachment. Additionally, the women of Sasso & Company have collaboratively explored how these relationships impact our daily lives.
What is attachment theory? How is it portrayed in Deeply Rooted?
Deeply Rooted explores the nature of attachment and our visceral reactions to such relationships. In psychology, attachment theory attempts to describe the dynamics of long-term and short-term interpersonal relationships between humans. Moreover, the feeling of security, anxiety, and/or apathy has a direct relationship to how our bodies react to one another. Deeply Rooted deconstructs attachment through movement, gesture, and soulful dance expression.
Deeply Rooted will showcase two world premiere pieces as well as fan favorite company repertory. As part of the company’s mission to create a greater sense of connectivity in the Boston dance community, Sasso & Company has the honor to be presenting the work of eight local artists and companies.
We are excited to share our journey with our muse, attachment, and have invited these artists to create work based on this theme. Further, we are overjoyed to be sharing this work collectively with live audiences in Boston in just under one month.
