Announcing 2019-2020 Season Auditions

Sasso & Company is looking for female identifying dancers with exemplary contemporary and ballet technique to join our company for the 2019-2020 season.

The company was formed in 2014 by Artistic Director Lacey Sasso as a premiere contemporary dance group comprised of strong, fierce, passionate women. The company’s work is bold, emotional, and captivating for the first time dance viewer as well as a seasoned dance lover.

Sasso & Company’s first season was fully backed by a Kickstarter campaign allowing for the full creative focus to be on the psychology behind Love in Motion.  In 2016, Dancing the Distance was performed to two SOLD OUT audiences at Cambridge’s Green Street Studios.  In 2018, the company performed Deeply Rooted to packed houses at The Dance Complex and further explored our mission of collaboration through our immersive performance at the SOWA District’s Kingston Gallery for In Pieces.

In our most recent season, the company collaborated with independent artist, Colleen Roddy to create Movement Filtration, a sold out evening of dance and craft beer at Dorchester Brewing Company.  The 2018-2019 season culminated with Days Gone By presented at the Dance Complex and featuring three world premiere works, fan favorite repertoire, and “any minute now.” collaboratively choreographed with BAR Dance for Empower One Another.  Artistic Director, Lacey Sasso is excited to continue to grow the company’s presence in Boston through both formal and informal performances in traditional and non-traditional spaces in the 2019 – 2020 season.

What to expect on audition day:

Dancers will be asked to learn company repertoire including a partnering exercise as well as participate in a brief improvisational movement experience. The company’s creative process asks movers to learn set material as well as be able to create and manipulate movement on the spot.

Performance opportunities range from formal concert dance and brewery tap rooms, to outdoor festivals and art galleries.

Rehearsal Commitment:

Sasso & Company typically rehearses for 2-3 hours once per week utilizing T accessible spaces. Rehearsals generally fall on Saturdays. Additional rehearsal time is per project and per dancer availability. Rehearsals and performances are currently unpaid. There is no fee to participate in the company.

Season Commitment:

Dancers will be asked to participate on either a full season contract, committing to all performances and rehearsals or a pick up contract, participating on a per performance basis.
